More Information
So you're probably asking "where is
Gaucin?"  You can see where is it on
the map on the left (marked with a
red star).  Not only can it be
reached from Malaga Airport (one
hour and twenty minute drive) and
Gibraltar Airport (one hour), but
also from the airport at Seville
(about a two hour drive).
The photo below shows Gaucin with the
peaks of Crestellina in the background. There
are many paths in this nature reserve, where
eagles and vultures fly around the mountains.
The countryside around Gaucin is also great
for walking. The photo above shows one of
the many paths around the village.

You can choose from guided walks or pick
your own from the walking books on the
bookshelves. There are also copies of the
local walks in the information packs in each
of the houses.
Gaucin has very good facilities. There are
several good restaurants as well as numerous
tapas bars. There are also many shops,
including a bakery and a butchers shop.

Gaucin also has public tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool which is open during the months of July and August.
The many places to visit around Gaucin include the
dramatic and historic town of Ronda (pictured
left). There are also several caves, including those
at Benoajan, and many moorish castles, including
Gaucin and Jimena de la Frontera.

Gibraltar is also within easy reach, as is the town
of Tarifa, where you can see surfers taking
advantage of the Atlantic waves.

Within the hour, you can visit the upmarket coastal
resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banus and Sotogrande,
and there are several golf courses nearby.
